June 10: More than 20 million Americans tuned in last night to watch the first House Select Committee hearing on the Jan. 6 riots and insurrection at the Capitol. Viewers relived through video footage presented at the hearing the harrowing, intense brutality and cruelty of Americans against Americans, which mercifully didn’t end up in a lynching or murder by other means of a public official.

Of course, ugly, manic brutality has risen manifold since last January, with scores of mass shootings and deaths of innocent civilians, including children in schools.

There are also some stories of gross and violent harm done to individuals that don’t get enough national attention, as it should.

One such story is of Danny Santulli, 19, a former University of Missouri student, who after a hazing ritual is “now wheelchair bound, blind and unable to speak as a result of the brain damage he suffered in October 2021 during the ‘Pledge Dad Reveal Night’ at Phi Gamma Delta. The teenager was ordered to down a 1.75 liter bottle of Tito’s vodka and had beer force-fed to him through a tube.”: Daily Mail

The victim’s family previously sued 23 people, including the fraternity known as Fiji, and won their case with an undisclosed settlement but they are now suing two individual frat boys; Samuel Gandhi and Alec Wetzler.

“They are also demanding felony charges be brought against the pair. Wetzler has been charged with misdemeanor providing alcohol to a minor and he is no longer enrolled at the school, but Gandhi has not been charged and he remains a student. According to the family’s lawsuit, Gandhi saw the dire state Danny was in but did nothing to help until it was too late.”: Daily Mail

“The petition, which Judge Joshua Devine approved, alleges negligence against the two defendants. Wetzler allegedly forced Santulli to drink excessive amounts of booze by putting a tube into his mouth and pouring beer down his throat, according to the lawyer’s complaint. Gandhi, meanwhile, walked back into Santulli’s room and saw that he had not moved from where he had left him, the Columbia Tribune reported on the amended lawsuit.”: New York Post reported.
